Mark Cuban, Please Call Me at 1-888-BLOG-BIZ (256-4249)
Today is Monday, April 10, 2006 and I am launching this new blogsite to see if I can get Mark Cuban to call me at 1-888-BLOG-BIZ (256-4249).
The clock starts today. How long will it take for Mark to see this website and call me? Only time will tell!
Why Do I Want Mark Cuban To Call Me?
I don't really have anything interesting to say to Mark. I do like his 'maverick' style, and admire his success and thought-leadership, however, I don't have any business plan to pitch to him, or anything like that.
This is an experiment. I want to see if I can use a quickly made blog and some cheap blog promotion techniques to get Mark to call me at 1-888-BLOG-BIZ (256-4249).
What's The Point?
I think Mark will appreciate this as a blogging proponent and all-around smart guy. The point is to further prove the powerful nature of instant publishing/blogging. If I can use this blog and a simple press release to get the attention of a person like Mark Cuban, then actually get him to call me, I can further prove that blogging is indeed a powerful way to get attention and get your thoughts out there, cheaply and quickly.
Exactly How Are You Promoting This?
I want to do as little promotion as possible. So I've made this typepad powered blog as step 1. Then the only other thing I'm going to do is release a press release to Prweb.com at the $80 level (release gets sent out on Wed, April 12th).
I'm hoping that the release, using the proper keywords (Mark Cuban) in the title, will eventually get blogged by other people and possibly get put in front of Mark himself via a news alert from either Google or Yahoo.
I repeat, I am not going to tell anybody about this website, or even link to it from any of my other blogs. As far as the world knows, this blog will be hidden to everyone and they will have to find it themselves.
Who Am I?
My name is Jim Kukral and I'm a long-time blogger/internet marketer who wants to continue to prove the power of blogging through unique and fun experiments like this. If you can to read my bio, you can do so here.

But why Mark Cuban? He is a blogger. Personally, I would have tried someone who is not into blogging for this experiment.

'Unique' blogging experiment? Source of inspiration? (The comment below was taken from Mark Cuban's blogmaverick.com entry entitled "Getting Paid to Learn"....

I once received an email response from Mark Cuban. The message was short and to the point, and it read as follows:
Get a real job.
Thanks,
m
To be fair I should point out that I used to email Mark all the time. I frequently requested employment, financial assistance, advice, anything, everything. I had convinced myself that if I could just capture Mark's attention, perhaps he might afford me an opportunity.
I've often attempted to be creative, humorous, even thought provoking when participating in blog maverick discussion. Trying to stand out, trying to get noticed. I realize I haven't always succeeded. There have been times when my efforts were probably counterproductive. Still, persistence should count for something, right?
Getting a 'good job' is difficult when you don't have the requisite degree or certification. Employers tend to look past you. So what to do when you're not qualified? I continue to overcompensate by being creative and persistent.

So Jim, you're the guy he hates, not me! He has me confused with you. I have never contacted him.
No, he hasn't called yet, I'm working on it still.
